Welcome to PEP+

Dear Pep + Families,

We are thankful to have you consider our independent study option. This option has been a great match for many families within YCJUSD. PEP Plus contains weekly meetings with your child, their guardian and your child's teacher. This is the foundation of the program, consistent feedback and effective communication with your child's teacher. These meetings can take place in person or via Google Meet.

In addition to the weekly meeting, there are opportunities for students to interact each day. There is daily scheduled class time via Google Meet between your teacher and classmates. In addition, there are office hour opportunities for students to connect with their teacher to get quick answers to questions they may have. Our district has contracted with "PAPER" so that all secondary students 6th grade on up have access to a tutor 24 hours a day. PAPER is available to our PEP students. Another element within the program which promotes interaction is the inclusion of on/off campus opportunities that are arranged with our teachers.

The work that students produce is what makes our program run. Student work submission in a timely manner is how attendance is calculated. Work is submitted online or through hard copies placed in a drop box. Work submission is an element that is worked out with your child's teacher. We try to be as family friendly as possible!

Family Participation

Deciding to educate your child outside the traditional classroom is an important decision.

We here at YCJUSD Pep + offer the same high-quality classroom curriculum to all of our families, coupled with personalized support to make the K-8 Independent Study venture a positive and enriching experience for all our students.

Families are our partners in the education of our students and possess the flexibility to enhance the learning experience of their child in a fun and personalized way.

You choose the school schedule that works best for your family. We meet once a week at an appointment time agreed upon by you!

The program asks for scheduled weekly meetings between the teacher, student and parent/guardian as an adult in the home is the primary instructor. These meetings can be vitural or in-person on campus.

The time and day of your weekly meeting will be determined by you and your teacher at your informational meeting.

In addition there is whole-group time as well on a regular basis specific to each grade level.

Our program serves Kindergarten through 8th grade students and their families.

We utilize the same high quality district-adopted curriculum that is used in every YCJUSD classroom. At the middle school level, grades 6th-8th, families have the option of utilizing our online curriculum.

After the successful completion of 8th grade, students can transition to Yucaipa High School or Yucaipa ConnectEd Academy, our online high school option through Yucaipa High School.
